Rules & Etiquette

There are many rules of golf — some by the USGA and some specific to our course. See the USGA site for all rules and interpretations.

Important: No more than 4 players per group — NO EXCEPTIONS. Any member reserves the right to call you out on this.
Important: You cannot bring your own alcohol to the golf course. Violations risk loss of membership and TRA's liquor license.

Etiquette & Basic Rules of Golf

  • Do not play with more than four per group.
  • Check in at the Clubhouse before playing.
  • Start on the first hole.
  • Play at a reasonable pace — average is 2 hours or less for 9 holes.
  • Let faster players play through.
  • Repair ball marks, replace divots (add pre-mixed sand if available), and rake bunkers.
  • Don't park on or too close to the putting green — stay at least 30 feet from the fringe.
  • Have the player furthest from the pin hit first on each shot.
  • Have your own golf clubs (no more than 14 clubs including putter).
  • Put an identifying mark on your golf ball to avoid playing the wrong ball.
  • Don't move or talk while someone in your group is hitting or about to hit.
  • Don't walk across the line of another player's putt on the green.
  • Don't hit until the group in front of you is well out of range. Say FORE! if you hit into a group.
  • Don't ever play when lightning is in the area.
  • Don't spend more than 3 minutes looking for a lost ball.
  • For more rules, visit the USGA Rules of Golf.

Golf Cart Rules

You must be a licensed driver to lease or rent a TRA golf cart. If you rent a cart, you accept responsibility for any damages.

  • Under-age children may not operate a TRA golf cart even with adult supervision.
  • Golfers are required to take the cart assigned to them when signing in at the clubhouse.
  • TRA carts should never leave TRA property.
  • Members who lease a cart may be required to share if another member with a lease is playing.
  • Leases cover carts during regular play and tournaments only.
  • Drivers of member-owned golf carts must be 14 to operate without adult supervision.
